Water & Sanitation Health: providing families in Southern Laos access to safe water, hygiene education and sanitation facilities.
STATISTICS
Almost half of the villages in rural Laos do not have access to a clean water. This has a negative impact on the health of villagers, causing illness and even death.
Approximately one quarter of the population practices open defecation, oftentimes at night. Women and children are vulnerable to snake bites & rape.
Most primary schools lack a proper water supply and latrine facilities for the children to use during school hours. This negatively impacts attendance and achievements.
18% of children enrolled in school do not complete primary education. Those who do often lack knowledge due to constraints such as a lack of quality learning materials.
