About Us

Asian Outreach (AO) is a Christian, non-governmental organization that has been empowering and transforming the lives of families in needy communities across Asia for more than 40 years. Operating in 18 countries across the continent, AO works with local partners to bring holistic and sustainable development to the most vulnerable areas.

We focus on the training and support of national workers – as they are best equipped to effect change within their own communities. Working alongside and empowering the local church, our programs include: leadership training and church planting, effective community development, literacy programs, community-based health and education programs, micro-enterprise and other practical programs to break the cycles of extreme poverty. Our goal is to see a vibrant local church central to community life.

Our Values

​

Cultivation of National Leadership – We believe those who know the language, the culture, and the physical environment of each project are ready-made to work within their national context. Our long-term goal is to search for, train, develop, and partner with national leadership to carry out the work in their nations.

Development of Indigenous Programs – Asia is extremely diverse. Instead of imposing projects from the outside, Asian Outreach North America & Asian Outreach Canada seek to establish programs that meet actual local needs. Working alongside out national leaders and other country offices, we develop a project with specific goals, a timeline, and a reporting system.

Encouragement of Asian Support – We encourage the Asian church and local supporters to contribute to local projects as well as assist in effectively expanding projects in other areas.

Networking – Asian Outreach believes in working with others to see great things accomplished in Asia. Where possible we will work alongside local churches and other organizations, offering our specific skills and strengths to serve in any way we can.

Promoting Accountability – We are accountable to our donors, partners and our Board of Directors. Asian Outreach Canada is also an Associate member of the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities and a member of the Canadian Christian Relief and Development Association. AONA finances are audited annually.
