Dear Friends,
I hope this email finds you well! I am delighted to share a brief update on our Thrive program, where we are sowing seeds of hope and empowerment through organic gardening in remote areas of Cambodia.
In recent workshops held in Tropeang Tom village and Chor Chong village, the team worked closely with 20 individuals from the Assisting Children To School and Family Empowerment Project. The group delved into the principles and practices of organic gardening, fostering healthier living and promoting stewardship of God’s creation.
Participants enthusiastically embraced hands-on activities, learning techniques like constructing sack gardens and keyhole gardens. These efforts not only enhance soil quality but also promote sustainable agriculture practices, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
Following the training, participants were provided with seeds to kickstart their gardens, encouraging them to cultivate their own sustenance and share in the joys of community gardening. However, we are also mindful of the challenges some face in accessing essential resources like organic fertilizers and pest control methods. Through collaborative efforts and ongoing support, we remain committed to overcoming these obstacles and fostering a thriving environment for all.
The stories we've heard from participants, such as Mr. Sorn Sokeng, deeply resonate with the impact of our work. He shared, "I learned about organic gardening and how to make gardens in small spaces with Asian Outreach Cambodia. This changed how I think about health and well-being... Now I have a keyhole garden and sack gardens at my house. I felt safe and happy to grow my own food without chemicals."
As we press onward in our mission, let us remember the words of Psalm 104:14-15: "He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate—bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens human hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread that sustains their hearts."
Thank you for your continued support and prayers as we endeavour to cultivate positive change in the lives of those we serve.
Rich blessings,
